Abolghasem Dadvar

ABOUT ME

     On the 28th of February, 1963, Abolghasem entered this world, in a beautiful village called Chakaneh, which is also the birthplace of many other professors, including Hossein Sadeghi, a surgeon currently occupied in Switzerland. Chakaneh located near Neishapur in Khorasan, has a stunning nature with four unique seasons which really give you the taste of each type of weather.

     After graduating from school, and it coinciding with the Iran-Iraq war, he went to serve his time in the military. In June 1981, he was injured after a mortar shot struck him in the upper arm area. He then worked on the cultural issues regarding the children of the honorable martyrs of war in the Foundation of Martyrs in Mashhad for two years. In February 1984, he went to Tehran in order to continue higher level education, getting his bachelor’s degree in archaeology in 1987; during this time, he also voluntarily, headed to the war fronts and fought in the Badr corps.

     In 1991, he graduated from Tarbiat Modares University with a master’s degree. Immediately, he was employed as a member of the academics for Alzahra University; and whilst teaching as a professor, he also took on some other responsibilities such as the administrator of the handicrafts group and the administrative and financial deputy of the faculty.

     In 1995, he traveled to India to continue his education, and in 1994, he got his doctorate in the history of civilizations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Whilst studying, he had the responsibility of the Islamic Association of Students in Delhi as well as the political responsibilities of the Union of the Islamic Associations of Students in the Indian subcontinent.

     After going back to Iran, in addition to teaching and research, he attained several executive positions including the head of the Department of Art Research in Alzahra University, Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Art in Kashan University, as well as the Dean of Faculty of Arts in Alzahra University.

     In 2006, he became an associate professor, and in 2013, he became a professor.

     Prof. Dadvar is a member of the editorial board of several university and scientific-research magazines, in addition to various scientific associations. He has authored countless books and papers regarding art in Iran and India, mythology, religions, history of civilizations, symbolism, and etc. Moreover, he has always been an active contributor and speaker in scientific congresses and seminars which took place both in Iran and also abroad.
